SNAPAfrica!

Imagine a world where there is no history of photography, where there are no family portraits or albums.  This, until recently, was what life was like in the Locations/Townships.

Under the SNAPAfrica! scheme camera clubs and individuals donate their old gear to young, disadvantaged, Namibians and Judy and Scott then train, usually by providing free places on existing courses but also individual instruction and mentoring.

Since it started in 2007 there have been resounding successes.  Confidence among trainees has soared.  Some are now boosting their incomes by running their own part time photographic businesses,  some are now full time photographer.  Others have used the experience to boost their CVs and to find work in other areas.
